Why gluten free?

Because no-one should have to miss out on cake

I’m coeliac, so I know what it’s like to arrive somewhere and wonder whether there will be anything I can safely eat. I’ve been the person offered the dry pre-packaged gluten-free brownie while everyone else gets the freshly baked cake. I’ve bought disappointing shop-bought alternatives. And I’ve been known to carry food with me, just in case.

It can feel like a small thing, but when food is part of a celebration, being the person who can’t join in can feel anything but small.

That’s one of the reasons I started Seaview Bakehouse.

A completely gluten free bakery

Seaview Bakehouse is entirely gluten free.

That’s important to me because I understand how much trust is involved when you’re coeliac.

You shouldn’t have to feel like you’re asking for special treatment when you want to enjoy a piece of cake.

Everything I make is created with gluten-free customers in mind from the very beginning.

It’s not just for coeliacs

You don’t need to be gluten-free to love Seaview Bakehouse.
I want you to forget it’s gluten free.

I’m making cake. Full of flavour. Properly homemade. Not dry and disappointing to eat. The sort of cake you’d happily serve to your family, whether they’re gluten-free or not.

Because that’s the standard I want to set:

Gluten-free should never mean deliciousness-free.

Everyone deserves really good cake.
